Wholesale Larimar has the strictest QA throughout the entire process, from the mining of the stone, through to the final polish of our metalwork. Wholesale Larimar products are guaranteed to be set in 925 Sterling silver, 14 and 18K gold and mixture of other alloys, such as white gold, platinum and palladium, depending on the piece.

Most of the other Larimar manufacturers produce their products in Santo Domingo; these workshops often sell to local tourist markets. They use the lower grades of stone and often use inferior quality metalwork for the settings. Whilst the name of the stone is the same, the grade and the quality of craftsmanship are vastly different. Having said this, many people buy Larimar while on vacation in the Caribbean. They purchase a souvenir of their vacation in the Islands and are not buying a quality piece designed to last for many years.

We are often asked what the difference is between the piece purchased in the Islands and the pieces we produce. When shown a comparison the differences are strikingly obvious, more often than not the stone is low quality and the craftsmanship is poor. The actual cut of the stone may not be good, and the surface may be dull. There are some disreputable dealers that are actually color treating their stones. If the piece you purchased fades after a couple of months for no apparent reason it was most probably color enhanced.

Generally speaking, Larimar is no different than all other products. There are vastly different qualities available.
